Jaage Hain der tak hamein

Its a beautiful song from movie ‘Guru’
Written by Gulzar, composed by A.R. Rahman and sung by Chitra

Jaage hain der tak hamein.. kuchh der sone do
Thodi si raat aur hai.. subah to hone do
Adhe adhure khwaab.. jo pure na ho sake
Ek baar phir se neend mein.. woh khwaab bone do

Can someone translate it for me in English here is the translation from Kabir Orłowski

We’ve just woke up and it’s late
Oh please, let me sleep some more
There’s some of the night still left
Let it be day, let it dawn

Half the unfinished dreams that
Never could’ve been complete
Once more when I am asleep
Oh, make those dreams come back

Singer – Chitra, A.R. Rahman, Madras Chorale Group Lyrics – Gulzar Music Composer – A.R. Rahman

    Un-slept all night, let me
    Slumber just a little more,
A pinch of night still lingers
    Wait till dawn appears evermore.

    Fractured dreams that
shall come to life no more –
In sleep, let me bury them,
    Those dreams… Once more.

Here… those beautiful lines deserved a better rendition. Gulzar is freaking hard to translate. Hope you like these verses better 🙂

See how nice I am when you say nice things to me? 🙂

    • Gulzar is gre8

same city? Now that sounds like a distant dream to me! Let’s just try and be in the same country first. But yeah, given our completely bizarre set of accidental meetings, who knows when and where we will meet next 🙂
